This week the design class at the L4 Academy started with their final practical exam. They will have to design a logo and a magazine insert or an interactive CD-ROM application for a spa hotel on the island Sylt. I’m supervising them taking care everything is according to plan. They have 10 working days to write a concept and prepare themselves for the practical test. Today they only had about 6 hours to do their whole work for the insert, create PDFs for offset printing and presenting a mockup of the final product.

The students of this year’s graduating class for media design at L4 will have their final exams this spring. Starting today until May, I help them preparing for the tests in design, technology and media production.

Right after the meeting at audioberlin I went to the 10th anniversary of L4 – academy for digital communications. I was pleasently surprised when I met Prof. Eku Wand giving a honoric speech for L4. He was a founding member of interface!berlin and Pixelpark and we’re proud to say he is on the Webcuts jury, as well.

I’m supervising them taking care everything is according to plan. They have 10 working days to write a concept and prepare themselves for the practical test. But next Thursday they will only have about 6 hours to do their whole work for the sales folder, create a PDF for offset printing and presenting a mockup of the final product. They have already come up with a couple of good concepts today.

On Monday two new classes for media designers (video + sound) started at L4. And as always the students will learn the basics in design and communications. However, each class is different and I’m looking forward to see the results of their works.

One of the classes for media design at L4 had an intermediate examination last friday. In about 4 hours the students should retouch a photo with cherries and design a flyer or a small website for a fruit farmer — not too easy if you want to make it properly in only 4 hours! Anyway, I had to grade their concepts, ideas and designs and I had to check the technical requirements of their works. After all, a good testing for their final exam next year.

This morning, I started a new class at L4. The students will learn the basics in Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and FreeHand over the next three weeks. There is not enough time to make them experts but as event managers they get an insight of the applications and the process of designing communication media.

On Wednesday I started a new Photoshop course at L4. The students will refresh and advance their skills in Photoshop and other applications and they will be prepared for their final exam at the German chamber of commerce and industry (DIHK).

Today, I started teaching a new design basics course at L4. All 11 days are spread over 4 weeks and the students will learn the basics of scribbling, design, layout, typography, corporate design and many more.

Today, I started a new Photoshop refresh workshop at L4 – Institute for Digital Communication. The students will refresh their knowledge about image composing, color correction and layouting and many more in this 6-day-course.

From Monday 6th to Friday 16th of December I'm teaching a 10-days workshop at L4 – Institute for Digital Communications. The students learn the very basics of design, layout, typography and corporate design. Here's a sneak insight of the students' work on their second day…
